Cade has made the #1 spot in my fav men of Sierra Cartwright!!! Whatever he pleases, I'm his completely!

I want to hate Sofia for getting the chance with Cade, but I can't hate her. She's a strong, independent and successful business woman who takes no s***. She knows her strength and has built her company from her mother's vision. She didn't had it easy, but never gives up. She's curious and willing to try with Cade.

Cade is a bastard child. A chip on his shoulder that keeps him hidden on the ranch he inheritated, along with some other demons that he thinks no one would understand. And old habits die hard when no one tries to break them.
It's Sofia who evokes feelings in him and yet he pushes her away when she tries to break his walls.
But it's also her that brings out his most dominant nature. Her curiousity awakes some fantasies and she's willing to fulfill them.

His kinks are so freaking hot that I was on fire more than once.

Their chemistry is strong right from the beginning and just gets stronger and stronger with every touch, with every bit of trust that is given freely.
Both characters are strong and you have an instant connection with them both. Their banter is so funny I had a couple of laugh out loud moments.
The story is hot and funny and sometimes heartbreaking.
Sierra Cartwright strikes again with her amazing writing!

PS: There are a couple minor characters that I would love to see getting their own story. *coughs* Thompson and Erin *coughs*

LOVE CADE AND SUMMER

WOW! Brand may be my favorite of all of Sierra Cartwright's books.

I loved Cade and Sofia's story. They meet at Lara and Connor Donovan's wedding celebration. Sofia is an event planner and Cade Donovan is a cowboy who has a 100 year celebration to host, but didn't realize what he was getting himself into with this party.

The chemistry between these two is amazing and Cade Donovan is a Dom who know just how to push her. I could not put this book down and read it cover to cover. It is super hot and I can't wait to meet more of the Donovan Dynasty Series!

I am completely IN LOVE with CADE DONOVAN! That sexy cowboy can tie me up whenever he pleases! Sierra Cartwright gives us another sensual, passionate, and erotic romance in her fantastic DONOVAN DYNASTY series. I can never get enough of this author. Her writing is so addicting. Her characters are sexy and strong, and her storylines touch the heart. What more can you possibly ask for in this genre?

Cade and Sofia. Two very different characters that compliment each other so well. There is instant chemistry and smoldering heat between the two. One sassy event planner. One tortured gorgeous cowboy. Boom! You got yourself a unputdownable erotic romance!

The initial interaction between Cade and Sofia was HOT! They meet at another Donovan wedding. There is dancing and there is a dark corner where anything could happen. They part ways after just a taste and immediately they want more. Cade is in desperate need of Sofia’s services, event planning that is, and he will do just about anything to make that happen. They both have their demands for each other and the witty banter that ensues is so enjoyable to read.

Beautiful Sofia brings out the sexy dominant nature in Cade. He wants her to surrender, but she is inexperienced and unsure. One stormy night, the connection strengthens and Sofia gives in to her desires. Now, Cade wants so much more than a simple distraction. She brings light to his darkness. She chases away his demons. Sofia thinks being with Cade is too much of a risk, personally and professionally. But with touch after touch of his hands and his dominance, he consumes her and chases away her doubt. Now, whatever happens, it was definitely worth the risk.

I was completely invested in Sofia and Cade’s happily ever after. I cheered them on the whole way through. I was left satisfied and bursting with giddiness by the last page. This series has become a favorite of mine, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

About the Author
Edwin M. Hartman was Visiting Professor of Business Ethics and co-director of the Paduano Seminar in Business Ethics at the Stern School of Business, New York University, until his retirement in December 2009. Before joining Stern, he taught for more than twenty years in the business school and the philosophy department at Rutgers University, where he was founding director of the Prudential Business Ethics Center. He is the author of Substance, Body, and Soul: Aristotelian Investigations, Conceptual Foundations of Organization Theory and Organizational Ethics and the Good Life (named Book of the Year (2003) by the Social Issues in Management Division of the Academy of Management).

Thoughtful argument for the relevance of virtue ethics to business (between 4.0 and 4.5 stars)

This book offers a thoughtful summary of, and apologia for, virtue ethics in a business context. The author (EH) has a broad knowledge not only of the writings of the key philosopher for this field, Aristotle, but also of contemporary business ethics literature, some of it very recent (within months of the book's electronic publication). And he does a good job of explaining many sophisticated philosophical ideas in clear and direct language, quite unlike most academic philosophy.

The first four chapters of the book concentrate on explaining Aristotle's ideas. Chapter 5 then applies them to an organizational context, often using Alasdair MacIntyre's somewhat anti-business "After Virtue" (1981) -- a book often credited with inspiring a modern revival of interest in virtue ethics -- as a foil. EH's goal is to show that it is possible to lead a virtuous life within a capitalist business. Chapter 6 has many interesting things to say about the challenges of teaching virtue ethics, and Chapter 7 considers whether this chunk of Aristotelianism has relevance in a multicultural business world.

I myself teach a short module of business ethics in leadership training programs for corporate executives, though at between 35 and 55 years old they may be a bit older than EH's usual students. I agree with EH that virtue ethics is in many situations a superior approach to the ethical dilemmas faced by businesspeople -- and that it's also the most challenging to teach. Students are usually more comfortable with what they perceive as the simple rules and algorithms of deontological and utilitarian ethical approaches. EH's observation, "The notion that business is essentially about maximizing something can create a mindset that a business ethics course can barely penetrate" [64%] made me laugh out loud in sympathy.

However, my teaching experience also makes me skeptical that this book would be enjoyable reading for any but the most intellectual and dedicated business executives (a few of whom might instead dive straight into Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics). A lot of the discussion focuses more on the writings of other ethicists than on examples from life in business organizations. In comparison, Michael Sandel's books are much richer in concrete illustrations of ethical problems. For students, especially ones who are already in the business world, I think a book like Schwartz and Sharpe's "Practical Wisdom: The Right Way to Do the Right Thing" (2010) is a more user-friendly introduction to Aristotelian ideas. EH's book may be more appropriate as a motivating pep-talk for ethics instructors.

EH warns us in the introduction that his is a particular interpretation of Aristotle with which some might disagree, and indeed I did on some small points. Some of his interpretations made use of relatively modern philosophical concepts, such as his references to "rationality" (which doesn't appear in the translation of the Nic. Eth. that EH relies on), or when he says that Aristotle had a "deficient notion of rights" (Chap. 3, n.25; rights didn't become prominent in political thought until roughly 2000 years after Aristotle's death). Elsewhere, he speaks of buying someone lunch as "creating eudaimonia for you and him" [18%]; I had thought of eudaimonia as something determined over much longer timeframes. A strength of the book is its discussion of how each person is responsible for choosing his or her own commitments; I found it a bit narrow, then, that the discussion of business was always in a capitalist, "free market" context. Maybe it's inherently more virtuous to choose to work for a non-profit, or a cooperative, or in other sectors of the "solidarity economy." It would have been nice to see this issue discussed, just as it would have been nice to see some general recognition of Continental authors on ethics and economy, to diversify the very "Anglo-Saxon" crew in the bibliography (I'm speaking intellectually, of course, not ethnically). The work of Luigino Bruni, Stefano Zamagni and many other Italian scholars in the field of "civil economy" is especially pertinent, because it, too, rests ultimately on an Aristotelian foundation. Some of that group's work is available in English.

I read this book in an ebook edition (Kindle for iPad), because it was the only edition available even more than a month past the publisher's official release dates for the other ones. At the time, the price was less than 25% of the hardcover's, and less than 50% of the paperback's; I hope that the pricing is still so reasonable when you read this. I find reading ebooks quite unpleasant and inefficient, but this was less exasperating than some. In particular, navigating from text to endnotes to bibliography and back again was fairly fluid. I do wish the publisher had included real page numbers, though. All in all, a solid book about a diffuse-seeming topic for those who use applied ethics in their teaching.

The Bible is OK but I prefer the commentaries in the back.

While I adore watching Jack Van Impe Presents and getting his videos because he is very knowledgeable concerning "end-times" Bible prophecy I guess I was expecting more from this edition of the Bible. This is a traditional King James Version with words of Christ in red. It has prophetic verses highlighted with one or two letters identifying if the verse relates to the first coming of Christ, the second coming of Christ, the last days, Isreal, Millennium, etc. There is no concordence or cross referencing markers like most Bibles. The scripture memorization is a nice feature as is the A-Z index to Bible prophecy, but I have enjoyed the commentaries; 'Daniel: Final Mysteries Unsealed" and "Revelation Revealed", more which can actually be purchased for less then the cost of the Bible. I would like to see the John Hagee Prophecy Bible for comparision.

One note in reference to the reviewer who said the Van Impe's are marketers and say the products are over priced. Yes, it is true you pay more for the item when you purchase directly from them, but when you get a receipt you'll notice they have a fair-market value and a donation value, which is usually the higher amount for tax deduction purposes. Their ministry is operated entirely on the sales of products and donations. Do not be deceived by those who think ministers should suffer the entire cost of their work from their own pockets, there whould be no minisries out there if they did because all the preachers whould be working for other people and to busy to do the work of God.

I'm glad to have this Bible by Dr Jack Van Impe. He leaves no doubts as far as end time prophecy is concern and uses scriptures to back up everything he says. Great Bible for those who are curious about today's events and our future.

If you have enjoyed the web site (TheQuackDoctor.com) you will have fun reading the book. There are 25 self-contained chapters each with a story to tell: some amusing and a few sad, even depressing. The subjects are peddlers of quack remedies of the 19th and early 20th century Britain and their customers (victims). Unlike similar collections of tales of quackery, each chapter is documented by contemporary (primary) sources listed in a separate section. There is also a handy index. Well written and sprinkled with reproductions of antique advertisements from British archives and the author’s collection.

During the next twenty-one months this aviation squadron was to be seen over every important battlefield, with its men fighting and dying for France.

George Thenault’s fascinating history of the Lafayette Escadrille covers from its very inception to the end of the war.

Many Americans living in France at the outbreak of war in 1914 wanted to fight for the country that they saw as the founder of Liberty, and some of those men were pilots.

But with the French army only having 80 planes the Americans were initially rejected from joining the air force and instead had to sign up with the Foreign Legion.

It was only after months of persuasion that some of these intrepid Americans were given control of France’s planes and later, under Thenault’s command, they developed their own squadron.

They were immediately thrown into the thick of the fighting above the pockmarked land of the Western Front.

Thenault provides vivid descriptions of his brave pilots which included Norman Prince, the Rockwell brothers and the ace Raoul Lufbery.

Some of these pilots were rather eccentric, for example William Thaw who when in Paris bought two lions, named Whiskey and Soda, which became the escadrille’s mascots.

Flying their Nieuports, they were fighting at the very beginning of military aviation and were instrumental in pioneering new battle techniques.

Their life expectancy was not long and many who had joined at the inception of the escadrille did not make it through until the end of the war.

Thenault’s extremely personal account covers all aspects of this squadron in World War One, from their activities on the ground to their dogfights in the air. It is a truly remarkable read.

Eventually with the United States joining the war the Lafayette Escadrille was disbanded and a number of its members were inducted into the U.S. Air Service as members of 103 Aero Squadron.

George Thenault’s The Story of the Lafayette Escadrille was published in 1921. His book gained widespread American public recognition. In May 1922, he accepted an assignment that began an eleven year diplomatic service in the Embassy of France in Washington, D.C.. Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 1933 following successful completion of duties as Military Attache for Aeronautics at the French Embassy in Washington DC, he returned to France and continued his military services with the French Air Army. He died in 1948.

A little masterpiece

I'd actually love to have this in the French it was so very obviously originally written in - it is more a short poetical memoir than a "history" in any real sense of the word; I can often sense a rather lovely French original behind the often poor English translation (of which more below). Georges Thenault has none of the war-weary cynicism that became fashionable in the twenties and thirties, for him the war - and the sacrifice of liberty, health, sanity, and life itself in the defence of a beloved homeland is a pure and beautiful thing. While we are reading him we too can believe, even those of us older and wiser in the ways of the world.

There is really very little serious historical information - and almost no technical information whatsoever. but then this is not what the book is about. For Therault, the squadron is his boys, and this story is intensely one of the young American volunteers, seen through rose coloured eyes by someone more inclined to love than to judge.

The Lafayette Escadrille was not an outstandingly successful unit in terms of aerial victories, in fact it was mainly employed in close escort of the French bombers, involving little opportunity for easy "kills" and, from the beginning, distressingly high casualties. Few punches are pulled, for all Therault's indulgent excuses - the Americans of the Escadrille come across as irresponsible and untruthful, and in other ways very badly disciplined: as well as brave but all too often overconfident and foolhardy. For Thenault all this is excusable, even noble, but not every reader will necessarily feel so indulgent. With a few notable exceptions, who survived long enough to become the aces of the squadron, they were also very poor fliers.

Thenault especially romanticises their motives; for him these young "Anglos" are all moved by a tender love for La Belle France mirroring his own. The reader might suspect that for the most part these boys were adventure seekers rather than "patriots" for a foreign land most of them probably knew little about: their commander betrays not a hint that anything like this was involved.

There are many understated but very sad passages of regret for the death, maiming or capture of most of Thenault's favourites - but probably the most heart-rending passage of all concerns the fate of the squadron's famous lion cub mascots. When young Whiskey and Soda got too big they had to go to the zoo, of course - but both animals soon died, partly because of the trauma of becoming caged (and of course great cats were still very cruelly caged in those days), and losing the companionship of their human owners - but mainly because both were suffering from chronic lung conditions brought on by their sharing with their human friends the unhealthy conditions of life in tin huts during the terrible French winter of 1916/17.

My only "negative" comments may be pretty irrelevant for many readers. Firstly, the translation, as hinted above, IS poor. It is, I suppose just possible, although I do not believe it, that the work we have represents Therault's own English. I am quite sure, as I have said, that it is unmistakeably a translation of his French. Charitably, the translator wants to preserve the "feeling" of the original - if so then this attempt fails - the general feeling of the prose (as English) is that of a second rate 19th century version of a Jules Verne novel - the use of more idiomatic English would also have rendered Thenault's French more comprehensible - there are many passages that someone with at least "high school French" will understand much more readily than someone with no knowledge of the language at all. It is a sad fact that what is gracious in french can be clumsy and obscure when translated word for word into English.

Finally - a word about the illustrations - they seem to be digitally scanned from photogravure originals. The results are pretty uniformly dire, although some are even worse than the others. It is a great shame that more effort could not have been made to get better copies, as the photographs themselves are well chosen, and to a great extent unique (in the sense that few of them have ever been published elsewhere).

I am constantly amazed that Hollywood goes to so much trouble to produce so much crap for TV and movies when they could easily just tell true stories about real characters like the men of the Lafayette Escadrille. These were young men, full of life, idealistic, most of them wealthy and highly educated, who could have lived easy lives doing whatever they pleased, wherever they pleased. Instead, they volunteered to fight for their ideals. They didn't even wait for their own country to join that fight.

Fighting in history's bloodiest conflict did not crush their youthful spirit. They partied in Paris. They drank with pilots from the Royal Navy. They had not one but 2 pet lions (named "Whiskey" and "Soda")! They painted livestock like combat planes and staged mock battles. They spoke only French in the morning and only English in the evening, under penalty of a 10 cent fine for each word in the wrong language.

These were great men who should always be remembered for their idealism and their antics.

An American escadrille in the Great War before America went to war

An excellent little book written by the CO of the Lafayette escadrille. Captain Th�nault was obviously an excellent witness. Besides, he knew almost intimately the men he was writing about. The book is an excellent introduction to the history of a famous squadron constituted of 38 intrepid American volunteers who wanted to fight for democracy as well as know the thrills of flying in WWI over some of the most famous battlefields of France. After reading Georges Thenault's book, the reader will want to read some of the biographies of those famous pilots in order to understand their motivations.

About the Author
Eddy Vaassen is Professor of Accounting Information Systems at Maastricht University and the University of Amsterdam, where he is the director of the international Executive Master of Finance and Control program. He has co-authored various texts and papers on accounting information systems, internal control, management control and auditing.

Roger Meuwissen is Professor of Control and Auditing and the vice-dean of education at the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University. He is co-author of several textbooks on Internal Control and Accounting Information Systems.

Caren Schelleman is an assistant Professor at Maastricht University. She develops, coordinates and teaches courses on Internal Control and Auditing at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

It was for school. Let's be real who buys these sorts of things for fun. I guess it served it's purpose but feel weird giving it 5 stars considering I don't really "love it."

I got the book but it has a damage on the side. It said new, maybe something happen druing processing. There is no damage on the package but there is a pit and a lot of pages are teared.
