Cuts through the confusion

In a young industry built around rapidly evolving technologies and user requirements, there is inevitably a lot of confusion. Jack does something unique in this book, which is take a full view of what has happened in enterprise mobility over the last five years and lay it all out in an easy-to-understand manner. If you are experienced in the industry, this book will provide perspective on what to do next and the right questions to ask. If you are inexperienced, this book will give you a primer on the basics so you can come up to speed quickly. This is the only publication in our industry that I have read cover-to-cover.

The Definitive Text on EMM MDM and MAM

Much like The VDI Delusion, Enterprise Mobility Management is simply great while NOT being a dull technical read. It's simple enough for a CIO and technical enough for an exchange engineer to appreciate. I look forward to the iOS 7 update.

Essential resource for those involved with mobile in the enterprise

I started a new position this week in the enterprise mobile space. I chose this book from Jack Madden to help me get up to speed on the relevant technologies and issues, and I've been thrilled with that choice. The book has excellent coverage of the iOS and Android platforms. The MDM (mobile device management) capabilities of each are clearly explained. Being new to the space, it became very easy for me to understand the OS internals and how third-party MDM solutions interact with these devices.

Since the book was released before the official release of iOS 7, there are a few details about the new OS which aren't covered in the book. However, the introduction mentions that an update to the book is coming which will address a few of those items. Also, the author's website has some great, recent info on iOS 7 that fills in any gaps.

Beyond the technical, Jack also demonstrates a real understanding of the competing forces at play in the enterprise mobile space: security, legal compliance, management, and end-user expectations.

Overall, I'd say this book has been more than worth the price for getting a good understanding of EMM.

A great textbook for college students!

I have taught two college-level writing courses with this book, and I continue to be impressed with the scope of its readings. Unlike every other "great-ideas" reader that I have ever seen, READING THE WORLD actually reads, well, the world. It includes many of the traditional Western authors that are common in such collections (Plato, Aristotle, Machiavelli, Martin Luther Francis Bacon, Rousseau, Hobbes, Martin Luther King, etc.), but it adds to the mix a VERY generous assortment of classical non-Western thinkers as well (Sun-Tzu, Mencius, Shotoku, Kenyatta, Gotama, Al-Ghazali, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and many more). I am glad that someone believes--and that some major textbook publishers are beginning to see--that "diversity" in education means a lot more than just the social divisions of American in the 20th and 21st century. There is a very big world out there waiting to be read, and READING THE WORLD is a pretty good place to start.

Great Essays! Even After Class is Over is a Great Purchase!

Even after dropping the class this book is becoming a personal favorite it challenges my mind, my old fashioned ideas into new ones and forces me to "dust off" my critical thinking skills to understand what wonderful essays it presents to me! hopefully it will challenge you as much it has challenged me! give it 4 stars because I haven't finished reading it yet!

If you're teaching Academic Writing and Critical Thinking this is the book for you!

I use this as the primary textbook in my Academic Writing and Critical Thinking class in an international BA program at a college in Brussels. My students, who come from all over the globe, absolutely love this book! Many of them write in their class evaluations that the readings were very interesting and several students have said they even took the book home over the holidays so their parents could read it. It rarely appears at our college's 'used book sales'. The authors of the essays come from all historic eras and all regions of the globe. They represent both genders and many nationalities. Because Michael Austin provides a writing guide at the end of the section (thesis, summary, using quotations, avoiding fallacies, introductions, conclusions....) there is no need for any additional writing handbook. Honestly, I cannot recommend this book too highly.

About the Author
Professor Hans Beger MD FACS is Chairman and Head of the Department of Surgery, University of Ulm, Germany. He has published 675 papers and has served as an Editorial Board Member for 28 international surgery journals. He has also edited 21 books and delivered more than 250 international lectures. He also developed a surgical procedure for removing the head of the pancreas while preserving the duodenum: known as Beger's operation.

Professor Andrew L. Warshaw MD FACS is the W. Gerald Austen Professor of Surgery, surgeon-in-chief and chairman of the Department of Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has made important contributions to the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer and the pathogenesis and management of pancreatitis. A distinguished teacher, editor and prolific writer, he is Editor-in-chief of the journal Surgery. He has served on the editorial boards of 15 other major journals and as visiting professor at more than 50 major universities in the U.S. and around the world. He serves as a governor of the American College of Surgeons, and president-elect of the Halsted Society. He is past-president of the Society of Surgery of the Alimentary Tract and International Association of Pancreatology.

Professor David Whitcomb MD PhD, is Professor of Medicine, Cell Biology & Physiology, and Human Genetics, and Chief, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA (Pancreatologist). He founded and directs the Center for Genomic Sciences beginning in 1995. He has received numerous awards, including election to the prestigious American Society for Clinical Investigation ("Young Turk"). He conducts basic and translational research with a focus on pancreatic diseases. His laboratory group discovered the gene causing hereditary pancreatitis and other causes of pancreatic disease. In addition, he leads several research projects on alcoholic pancreatitis and pancreatic physiology. He has published over 100 manuscripts and recently co-edited two books on inherited diseases of the pancreas. He is a Counselor for the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA), the American Pancreas Association and the International Association of Pancreatology, and is Chairman of the Pancreatic Disorders Section of the AGA. He is an Associate Editor for Pancreas, Digestive Diseases and Sciences, and Pancreatology. He co-founded the Midwest Multicenter Pancreatic Study Group and serves on national and international committees for the major gastroenterology and pancreatic societies. He has just been elected President of the American Pancreas Association.

straight-forward arrangements

Nice variety of songs, most copyright 2010 or later. As a piano teacher, I'd consider this as late-beginner; most pieces in key of C,G,F, D or Bb; 2 staff with melody in right hand; guitar chords included.

I like that it is easier to play music

I like that it is easier to play music, but some songs I played with the youtube video of the actual song and it sounded weird? It was only a few. Most of them were amazing! and I'm sure it is the musician, not the arrangement that sounds weird! (meaning me) thank you!
