Though this information benefits all researchers, the book was written primarily for students in electronic engineering and applied physics. It responds to a serious gap in the literature, since the many books on ICs which have appeared during the last 20 years are generally pitched at a graduate rather than undergraduate level and tend to be specialized in their coverage.
